Try this to remember long digits!

Some months ago, I read a book named "How to improve your memory power?". In that book, the author gave some tips to remember list of items, phone numbers, some long digit numbers, person faces, day of a date and etc. But I couldnt use that tips, becoz I forgot that tips also. By correlating the first and second item we can easily remember the list of items in a given order. To remember numbers, he used peg system in which he assigned numbers to some alphabets. By making a word using that alphabets, we can easily remember long digits. But I couldnt remember the peg system:( Now I blogged the peg system, so in future I will see this post to remind the peg system ...

Peg system
1 - T, D
2 - N
3 - M
4 - R
5 - L
6 - J, SH, CH
7 - K, C, G
8 - F, V
9 - P, B
0 - Z, S

For example, take 35. For this number the word to be generated may be Mule or Male or something else contains m and l.

To remember 539742, first we separate into three two digits and generate a
peg word for each of them and then correlate the words.
Ex: 53 - LiMe
97 - BooK
42 - RuN
Frame one sentence, A big LiMe is reading a BooK which is running (Just an imagination :) 539742 is my friend's phone number and I remembered it using this method only.

An article abt FOSS in a Tamil weekly

I read an article about OpenSource in this week
'Anantha vikadan'(03-09-06), Tamil weekly magazine. It clearly explains the basic concepts and advantages of opensource. It also lists some popular opensource projects Mozilla, Apache, MySQL and PERL. And in the last paragraph, it says that GNU/Linux will replace Windows in few years. Other than students and corporate people, many people read this weekly so they will know about Opensource technology and the future is in the hands of Free software and Opensource. I hope it will reach many people. Cheers:)

OpenSolaris Day

First I thank Mr.Ananth Srinivas and Mr.Prathap Devarajan from SUN Microsystems for the wonderful session on OpenSolaris. This OpenSolaris day was conducted in our college on August 18th. The session started with History of Opensolaris. They clearly explained how Opensolaris is born into this Tech-world. Then they moved to the special features Only in Opensolaris and not in any other OS. I saw the simply superb customized GNOME in their laptops.

Dynamic trace is an amazing tool and they showed its power by executing some scripts. Its like an Operating Systems Lab session. We can see a live view of how the concepts in OS are implemented and working without touching any code, by only executing some two or three lines of Dtrace scripts. They told that we could run GNU/Linux inside Opensolaris Using Branded Zones.

In the afternoon session they talked about ZFS, the first 128 bit file
systems with amazing features. ZFS delivers unlimited capacity, data integrity and a cool and easy way of administration. Then they listed the tools avialble in Opensolaris. They showed some interesting commands pmap, prstat, mdb, etruss and etc. Knowing the history and implementation of Belenix from the developer was a wonderful experience. I am walking in the 10th direction towards Opensolaris and joined in MOSUG.

OpenSolaris is an Openbook for Opearating Systems.

Unakkum Enakkum

Last Saturday I went to 'Something Something Unakkum Enakkum'
with Senthil and Sai. Starting itself Prabhu irritates us by speaking
centiment dialogues. But he reminds us when he selects names
from a lot. Horse played an important role in this film. In this film,
Ravi joined a broken horse pieces into a good one and it looks
better after joining. How is it possible? Hmm ... I am also trying to
join my ID card correctly bcoz it is in poor condition. I cant tolerate
that star centiment. This film wil be one of super hits in 2006. Good
family film with over centiments.

DapperDrake

Lase week, I received DapperDrake CD-s from Ubuntu. In this release, installation is integrated with Live-CD. I tried to install Ubuntu 6.0 in my system. My system's RAM size is 128 MB. The installation process is very slow in my system. So I didnt install it in my system. The GUI looks cool ... I heard that Xgl can be setup fairly easily for Ubuntu 6.06. But I couldnt see it in my system :(

Puthupettai

The first half of the film is little bit slow but it takes fast after an half an hour. Dhanush acts well but sound and fight are over. In some scenes he reminds "Amaithipadai" Sathyaraj. After interval, the movie was so interesting. 'Oru nallil valkkai ...' is missing. Shortly, this is a serious three hours serial written by selvaraghavan for Dhanush. You can see blood in all the scenes of this film. "Survival of the fittest" --- But unfit for super hit.
